Don’t you just love a good before & after room reveal? I know I do! Today I’m sharing a room reveal of a client’s bedroom. It’s her daughter’s bedroom, and it turned out so fabulous!
It’s a lovely room with a nice set of double windows. My client had already painted the walls purple. She had also purchased the black and white bedding, the pillows for the room, the drapery pole. Then she called me to help with the windows.
If you notice, the drapery pole extends out on either side of the window. This is a great way to be able to have drapery panels at a window, and not obstruct very much of the window glass. If I had provided the pole, I probably would have come out a little further on each side of the window trim, so that less of the window glass would be covered by the window treatments.
The black and white bedding on the daybed. Love the polka dots! The purple pillows my client purchased for the bed perfectly match the purple wall color, and really pop against the black and white bedding.
Light control and privacy were an issue that needed to be addressed with the new window treatments. So, I made functional drapery panels that open and close for privacy and light control. I used blackout lining for the drapes, so the room is very dark when the drapes are closed. Even on a bright sunny day the room is dark when the drapery panels are closed, which is important for a teen-aged girl!
Here are the finished drapery panels hung on the pole at the window. We chose a lovely black silk fabric for the drapery panels. These pictures don’t do it justice. I also made the cushion for the window seat out of a fabulous black and white fabric that coordinated with the other black and white fabrics in the room.
As you can see, the draperies really finish off the room.
A little bit of the glass is blocked on either side by the draperies, which is why a longer pole would have worked a little bit better. Then the stack back of the drapery would’ve been more in the wall area instead of the window glass.
We decided to add a little extra bling to the goblet pleats with a fun beaded tassel and covered button at the bottom of each goblet pleat. This embellishment adds a lot to the all black draperies.
Window treatments are like the icing on the cake. They’re a great finishing touch for every room!
I’m sharing here:
What a lucky girl! I’m sure she feels very special and pretty in her new room. I love the button/tassel detail on my favorite pleat in the world. Lovely! All of it. The entire room.. Beautiful work, as always, Jann!
Thanks Kim!
