A few weeks ago, my two sisters, daughter and I went to spend the day with my niece who lives a couple of hours away. She lives in a little cottage that she moved into about a year ago. The cottage sits behind the main house on the property, and at one time was probably the carriage or guest house. It is an adorable little house.

My niece is only a year younger than my daughter. They grew up together as the only girl grandchildren on my side of the family, and are more like sisters than cousins. Here they are together – my niece on the left and my daughter on the right.
My niece has grown up to be a lovely young lady. Here she is holding my grandson. This is one of my favorite pictures of both of them.
My niece has a great sense of style, so I couldn’t wait to see her cottage in person. It did not disappoint! It has so much charm and character. There is a living room, dining room, and kitchen on the first floor. One of the best features of the cottage are the beautiful windows. The cottage sits high on the property, so when you’re inside, it feels like you’re in a tree house. Here are the front living room windows. The mullions are fantastic!
Across from this set of windows she has painted a subtle chevron design on the short wall. Beautiful!
On the chevron wall my niece has her TV, which sits on a cabinet that used to be a bedroom dresser. She got the dresser for free, it was left on the front porch of the house my sister rents out. The tenants left it when they moved. I wish we had taken a before picture of the dresser, it was in pretty sad shape. My niece has painted it, and added new hardware, and now it looks fantastic! Notice the beautiful hardwood floors that are in the whole cottage.
I love these plates that she has hung on the wall in her dining room.
On the second floor there are two bedrooms and a bath. My niece’s bedroom is in the front of the house. Her bed and nightstands fit perfectly in the dormer window alcove. Again, the windows are beautiful!
I had such a good time visiting with my niece, and seeing her cottage. She made us a wonderful lunch, and took us to an antique store that is close to where she lives. A great day!
