Ahhh…I can’t tell you how happy I am about Pantone’s color of the year for 2017 – Greenery! I have to admit that I’m not always a fan of Pantone’s choice for color of the year, (especially last year’s blue/pink combo – rose quartz and serenity), but Greenery is a color that I love, and I’ve used it a lot in my home.
I’ve even had a couple of blogger friends tell me that they thought of our house when they saw Pantone’s color choice for 2017!
In our home, I’ve used this green as an accent color. When I chose the floral fabric for our main living areas, I found complementary fabrics to use for the draperies and pillows.
A couple of them are in this great green color.
I made our living room draperies out of the green and white fabric.
The solid green fabric made beautiful draperies for the dining room. In the summertime, the green of the trees outside look great with the green inside.
After I picked out the fabrics, I chose a green paint color. I love it! It’s Pittsburgh Paint’s Fern Glow. I didn’t use this color on the walls in the main living area, but did use it in our small laundry room…
and the pantry, which is right across the hall from the laundry room. The green wall color is a cheerful, bright surprise when you open the laundry room and pantry doors!
I painted our front entry cabinet with the Fern Glow paint too. I love how it turned out! The new black hardware pops against the green.
I also painted the back wall of our living room bookshelves with the Fern Glow paint.
Our dining room hutch got the same treatment. The white dishes pop against the bright green color.
I’ve also had lots of fun finding green accessories to go along with the fabrics!
So, for us, this green color has been a great accent color to go along with the blues and whites. I love how bright and cheerful it is in our home, even during the long, gray months of winter. I almost forgot to mention that we have a green and white area rug in our living room.
