It’s been a long time since I’ve sewn any clothing projects. Ever since my granddaughter was born, I’ve been wanting to create some cute outfits for her! This fun little girl’s crossover pinafore is my first project.
The Simplicity pattern that I used was my mom’s. She used it to make my niece a sundress many years ago. A friend of her’s gave it to her, and the original date on the pattern is 1976! It really is a timeless design though.
My favorite part of the dress is the back. I love the criss-cross. It is a great outfit for hot summer days, and perfect for a round of golf on the lawn!
The original pattern suggested sewing a gathered ruffle around the bottom edge of the dress, but I decided to add a knife pleated ruffle in a coordinating green fabric instead.
Stay tuned, I had so much fun making this dress, that I’m sure there will be more little girl projects in the future! Do you have a favorite little girl outfit to sew?
Sooo Cute! Granddaughter and dress! Love the pleated ruffle.
Thanks Chrystal, I really enjoyed making it!
Such an adorable sundress – almost as cute as the little model!

Thanks Rebekah! She’s a little lady on the go, so I knew her modeling would have to be activity related!

I made this dress for my daughter in 1984. Now my daughter has a new daughter and I have been looking for this same pattern. Does anyone have it? It is so easy and looks so cute.
I will pass this along to my wife – She is learning how to sew and this looks like a fun project for our niece.
This is just adorable! Found you over on the PInterest Power Party and pinned ya. Have a great week.
Thanks Beca!
Had this pattern for my daughter in 1977. I have been looking for it for years. Is there anyway you would send me a copy of the dress piece? I believe I still have the rest in my sewing file.
This is one of my favorite little dresses I used to make for my grand daughters when they were little. It’s always fresh and the fabrics you can use are endless. Love this one – the pink is perfect. Thank you for sharing at Share It One More Time. Cathy
