I’m very excited to finally share with you our new white kitchen! Our home renovation has been a long and crazy journey over the last year, but well worth it. If you missed some of my whiny posts from living and working in the house during the renovation, you can find them here.
Be sure to check out our Home Tour page for all of the details about our home renovation!
While we were planning the kitchen renovation, I pinned lots of kitchens onto my Kitchens Board on Pinterest. Something that I noticed right away – I have a thing for white kitchens! Especially white kitchens with white appliances and wood floors. So, that’s the direction we went, and I’m thrilled with how the kitchen turned out!
Let’s start with a before picture from the hallway leading into to kitchen. This is the main entrance into the kitchen.
I love how bright and cheerful the kitchen is now!
The view from the dining area – before and after.
Looking from the kitchen into the dining and living room areas. You may notice that the dining and living rooms aren’t finished yet. I still need to do something with our table and also the windows. I have the fabrics for the window treatments, just need the time to make them!
Update! Here’s what the kitchen looking into the dining and living room areas looks like now!
Our hoosier cabinet went to live in the home that it originally came from, so it’s staying in the family. We have upcycled our old living room TV cabinet by turning it into our new microwave/storage cabinet.
The new countertops, backsplash and kitchen faucet. I wanted to add touches of green and warm wood and wicker as a contrast to the white.
The only new window treatment that I’ve made, but I love it! I picked the fabric out two or three years ago, and I’ll be using it in our living room too. We painted the walls with Benjamin Moore’s Ballet White.
So, what do you think about white kitchens – yay or nay?
Here’s what we changed in the kitchen (and the posts with further details):

Love it! We are going the same route soon.
Thanks Linda! Good luck with your renovation!
I love it! I think you made a good decision on the white frig. The floor is amazing! Good job!
I am replacing my carpet in all the bedrooms & halls and tile in 2 bathrooms? I am really struggling with my decision on tile that looks like wood or wood it amounts to 1450 sq. Ft so that’s a lot of tile? Maybe cold we have pets so that’s why we are considering tile? But I am leaning wood? How did you make hard decisions? Thanks june
Thanks June! I have known for years that I wanted to do wood floors. We had tile in our entry and down the hall before the reno. Our builder had already installed it when we bought our house. We don’t like tile, so wood was an easy choice for us. I can see if you have pets that tile may be a good option.
Your kitchen is gorgeous, and I love the pops of green you added! We’re redoing ours, but I’m drawn to dark kitchens, so that’s the route we’re taking. I do love looking at white kitchens though — they just look so fresh and inviting. Can’t wait to read more about your reno. 🙂
Thanks Dee! Good luck with your renovation!
Beautiful Jann! I love everything about it, but the pops of bright green really look great!
Thanks Laura! I really love the green too, it may be becoming my new favorite color. Though I still love blue too.
Jann, I love it! It’s such a “happy” room!
Thanks Barb!
Congrats, Jann – Your new kitchen is so pretty. I bet you just love walking into it in the morning. Love the white…so clean and fresh. Enjoy!
Thanks Jill! The windows in the kitchen and dining are face east and south, so it’s wonderfully bright and cheerful in the mornings.
Your new kitchen is beautiful! What a great remodel.
Thanks Laurel!
It looks beautiful. Love the clean look the white gives. Thr countertops are gorgeous & love the pops of blue & green. Great job.

Kathy
Thanks Kathy! I’ll bet you’re excited about your new house! Sorry the weather had to make moving in a challenge!
Wow, Jann! It looks beautiful! Amazing how different it looks in white. The green accents are adorable. (I’d probably end up painting my windows shut!).
Thanks Susan! The windows were painted last May when we could keep them open. I did have to move them a little while they were drying, but it wasn’t too bad.
Hi Jann,
I saw your kitchen on FB and love it! Bill & I are going to start building a new home any day and are planning a white kitchen. What did you use for your countertops?
thx
Leslie
PS so sorry we missed you in SRQ, but I was sick. 🙁
Hi Leslie! We have Corian countertops. I have always love the look and feel of Corian, so decided t go that route instead of quartz. I’ll be doing a blog post about countertops soon! Good luck with the new house!
Love white kitchens and yours looks beautiful!
Thanks Martina!
Congratulations Jann! You have a clean canvas to add whatever color you want throughout the seasons. I too have been pinning alot of white “farmstyle” kitchens. This summer, my goal is to do a mini makeover in our kitchen since a whole new kitchen isn’t in our budget yet. Enjoy your new space, it looks great!
Thanks Cricket! Good luck with your renovation!
Your new kitchen looks wonderful ! Love the green accents and also love the roman shade fabric. Great job !
Thanks Stephanie!
Jan I love the white kitchen. You have created such a very nice space. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Ruth!

Thanks Nancy! It’s true, white is so easy to work with. I love how clean and bright it looks too.
Wow this turned out fantastic! Love the new counters and wood flooring. The cupboards look so updated in white and I like the pops of green you used. That was a fantastic idea repurposing the tv cabinet for the kitchen area. I don’t think I can bet my husband to go along with painting my kitchen white but I would if I could. I like white now more than ever as long as it’s not too stark. I’ve added white through accessories.
Thanks Liz! I’m loving how light and bright the kitchen is now!
So light and bright! What a difference the paint made to this space, and bringing the cabinets up to the ceiling was a great choice too! Beautiful – hope you are enjoying it!
Thanks Lisa! We are enjoying it very much!
Amazing and BEAUTIFUL transformation, Jann! Just shared for you 😉
Thank you so much, Julie!
I have looked everywhere but cannot seem to find what color you painted the walls. What brand of paint and color did you use to paint the walls? Thank you!
Thanks for pointing this out Melissa! I have added it to the post. It’s Benjamin Moore’s Ballet White.
I LOVE your kitchen! It is so modern and stunning! I pinned it for inspiration!
Thanks!
HI, can you tell me if the grain of the oak cabinets shows through the white paint?
The oak grain doesn’t show through because we had the grain filled and sanded so that the cabinet doors would look like the mdf upper cabinets that we had built. I have written a blog post about this. https://www.newtoncustominteriors.com/how-to-paint-oak-cabinets/
This makeover is inspirational! Congrats.
Thanks Anne-Marie!
