Welcome to the first Window Wednesday! Every Wednesday will be all about windows, and everything that can cover and dress them up. Today I want to talk about visualizing what your draperies will look like on your windows.
Be sure to check out our Decorating With Window Treatments page for more ideas, tips and techniques for your windows!
Is it hard for you to picture what your draperies will look like when they are finished? This is a common problem. If you are decent at drawing and sketching, you can take a picture of your window and place it in a clear sheet protector. Using a marker, draw the window treatment on the sheet protector over the picture of the window. This will help give you an idea what the finished project will look like.
I have a tool, Minutes Matter Studio, that helps my clients visualize what their finished window treatments will look like. It is a computer rendering program made specifically for window treatments. Here is an example of how I used it for a client project.
In this picture I have overlaid a window treatment style on top of a picture that I took of my client’s window using the computer rendering program. It really helped my client visualize what her finished product would look like.
Here’s a picture of my client’s dining area valance. We wanted to tie this valance in with the new living rooms draperies, since they are both in one big, open room. We did that by adding the same kind of swag over the the top of the drapery panel.
Here’s the finished window treatments – stationary draperies with swag overlays. What do you think? Pretty close to the look in the computer rendering, right?
Great Post Jan! I have thought about blogging about the rendering program too! It is really nice to show customers what it will look like!
Thanks Chrystal! It really is a great program for the client who has trouble visualizing the end result.
Wow, that’s so cool! What a great tool!
Thanks Joselyn!
Hi Jann,
My sister, Claire Hallman of Claire’s Curtains has a drapery workroom south of Birmingham, AL. I was so impressed by your post and blogspot, I sent her a link so she could see how you help your clients visualize their completed custom window treatments.
Thank you very much.
